BP's is also liable for the Methane Eruption
Methane hydrates in a glass container burning without melting the ice in which it is contained. This is the micro example of what happens when a small amount of CH4 dissociates. Methane gas is 20 times more dangerouss as a GHG than CO2, and when CH4 oxidizes it breaks down to methane, CO2 and formaldahyde, all extremeley dangerous in sufficient volume.
When CH4 dissociates the rush of heat, the chain reaction, is instant and vast reaching the arctic in mere hours. Below is the evidence from the National Snow and Ice Center in Boulder Colorado. There is a direct correlation between the leak and the unprecedented downward decent of ice, now below the lowest figure on record. This BP Eruption will deliver so much heat to the Arctic that we will not see hydrates form until 2011, and will likely see CH 4 being released in the Arctic atmosphere as methane from the BP Eruption warms the Arctic Tundra and destabilizes CH 4 which is a mere 200-300 meters down, not 5,000m as in the Gulf.
The BP Eruption will hasten global warming weather anamolies, as millions of tons of methane are released over the next few years. Stay tuned.
